The Tornadoes football team was at home this past week to celebrate Homecoming 2022. Their opponent for Friday night's football game was the Midway-Minto Mustangs. The game was a Region 3 contest that saw the Tornadoes remain unbeaten on the season. Cavalier scored early and often en route to a 74-0 final.
Cavalier had eight different players to combine for a total of ten touchdowns in the contest. Jacob Steele led the way with three rushing touchdowns. Landon Carter added a rushing and receiving score. Sterling Enerson was 1/2 passing including throwing the touchdown to Carter. Breckon Thorpe also threw one pass, a touchdown to fellow sophomore Jonas Kuhn. Mason Carter, Logan Werner, and Raymond Dominguez also added rushing touchdowns for Cavalier.
Defensively, Cavalier was solid all night allowing just 33 yards of total offense. The Tornadoes forced 5 turnovers in the shutout performance including two interceptions by Zack Anderson, one by Logan Werner, and another by JJ Thorpe. Levi Hinkle recovered a fumble as well.
Cavalier will play its final regular season game of the year this coming Friday when they host the Benson County Wildcats. The contest will be played at 7:00pm and it will be Senior/Parent's night. The win against Midway-Minto guaranteed that Cavalier will finish no lower than 2nd place in the Region which means that they are guaranteed a home playoff game in the post-season. Cavalier will wrap up the regular season next week in Pembina in a winner-take-all Region Championship game against the Eagles.
