5th Grade ELA classes practiced responsible citizenry and wrote letters to save the horses at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We discussed the issue, reviewed sources, and wrote a formal argumentative essay to send to the park service.
Some responses were sent in the mail, others were submitted via the online portal.
The students really enjoyed an assignment that had a real-life meaning and had a connection to North Dakota!

Pembina County Public Health spoke to our 6th graders today about safely using medications and the health risks of smoking and vaping. Thank you for helping Cavalier students stay safe!

Cavalier Dollars for Scholars is hosting a PJ day this Wednesday. We are asking for a free will donation (Minimum $1 Donation). All money raised will go to each grade's scholarship class fund when they graduate.

As Intro to Ag students completed their soils unit, students designed mini soil science lessons to teach to the 5th graders. One group gave a short presentation and the other groups prepared soil related activities for the 5th graders to participate in. Topics covered included soil erosion and prevention, soil horizons, and soil texture. Intro to Ag students designed the activity, collected their own materials, wrote their own formal lesson plan, and will be grading a test they made for their students. It was awesome to have "the big kids" teach "the little kids"!
