Intro to Ag students have begun a meat processing unit with the first lesson being poultry fabrication. Students got to practice cutting up a whole chicken into the familiar cuts you see at the grocery store.

I know that yesterday was the 100th day of school, but add on a few more zeros and help me celebrate middle school's first MILLION WORD READER for the 23-24 school year. On February 1, 2024, Eli Hinkle added his name to the Wall of Fame as he tipped the scale with a big smile on his face! Achieving this goal requires time, effort, and determination. Congratulations to Eli and his parents, as it takes at-home support and modeling to develop lifelong readers. Proud of you, Eli!

Happy 100th day! We had 100 items on clothing, 100 year olds, 100 fruit loops on necklaces, 100 day bingo, 100 books read, 100 day story, and 100 seconds to unscramble the secret message - "At Cavalier Elementary, we have been future world changers for one hundred days!"

You can make a difference with Giving Hearts Day. Each class will be collecting money on February 8th to help raise funds to help upgrade the hospitals HVAC system. The top four grades with the largest donations will have their names put in a drawing to throw bean bags at the target to dunk the admin.

Reminder that FBLA dues, Code of Conduct Forms and Media Release forms are all due tomorrow to Mr. Muth. Students need to have these turned in order to go to the State Leadership Conference in Bismarck in March.

A few of Cavalier's art students, who participated in a juried area high school art show held at UND, attended the closing reception held last night. The students enjoyed seeing their work hung in a professional gallery and were inspired by seeing other student's works of art. Pictured are Justin Schroeder, Claire Hagen, Colette Bellamy and Kaitlyn Harris.

Intro to Ag students learned about scat as a useful wildlife identification tool. Students were given tootsie rolls and an animal. They had to recreate that animal's scat. Students then had to walk around and guess which animal scat was which. Students found certain specimens very surprising!

As part of our wildlife unit, students learned about whitetail deer antlers: how they grow, what they tell us, and how to score them. After scoring real whitetail racks, students created their own racks, keeping in mind what elements would produce the highest scores using the Boone and Crockett scoring system.

LOVE is in the air❤️
